Future Stars League Rules
- There is no fee to participate in the NJ Future Stars Wrestling League. (Excluding year end tourney)
- Teams are responsible for scheduling their own matches and supplying their own officials. There will be time set aside at the season kick-off meeting to schedule matches. Teams should try to secure gym space before the kick-off meeting.
- Eligibility is limited to K-8 wrestlers who have not won 3 varsity league matches in the current season. (Excluding forfeits.)
- There is no minimum or maximum number of meets that a team may participate in.
- Aside from listed below all standard NFHS folkstyle rules apply.
- There are no weight classes for dual meets.
- Coaches will supply opposing coach a list of participating wrestlers at least 2 days prior to the meet. The list (excel spreadsheet preferred) should include wrestler first and last name, age, weight and ranking from 1 to 5 with 1 being timid/inexperienced and 5 being aggressive/tough. Coaches will work together to create fair match-ups.
- Keeping team score is discouraged. If kept, team score should not be reported.
- Bout length may either be 1-1-1 or 1:30-1-1. Decision to be made by coaches based on the number of bouts.
- Headlocks from neutral are prohibited. If a headlock from feet occurs the wrestlers will be returned to neutral.
- In case of a first period pin, the match will move to the second period with the wrestler who was pinned having choice of top, bottom or neutral. A second pin by either wrestler (or the conclusion of the third period) ends the match.
- All other rules (including clasping/locked hands) SHOULD be followed by the officials.
